The below floor plan and map is based on a sketch presented in REHupa Mailing #105 by L. Sprague and Catherine Crook de Camp. The de Camps stated that the floor plan of the Howard house was verified at the time by the Howards' next door neighbor, Mrs. Butler, and Kate Merriman, a Cross Plains resident who helped out the Howard's during Mrs. Howard's final illness.

The map represents the Howard House as it was in the 1930's when the Howards were still living there (although there is some question about the placement of the Howards' shed).  Later owners have since added a room onto the house at back of Robert's room which fills the South-east corner of the house (where the back door is on the map above).  The back door was then moved to the end of the hallway to face South, the sleeping porch was completely removed, and the space it occupied became a part of the hallway and new room.
