THE BLOG OF BLACK INDY

Posted by Official Editor Bill "Indy" Cavalier on 27th February 2007

Welcome to one of the initial blogs on the new and improved REHupa website. Before I write anything else, I’m giving all the major props I can find to Mr. Leo Grin, The Man who has done all the work over here making the website for The Robert E. Howard United Press Association. Most of you know Leo runs the wonderful Cimmerian Blog over at his Cimmerian website, and it has become a model of how cool this new-fangled (for this computer dinosaur) blogging can be. Leo will continue to work his magic over here, as far as making everything look fantastic, for which I am ever so grateful. Many, many thanks, Leo…you are indeed The Man!

While Mr. Grin will continue wrenching the nuts and bolts of this site, the initial blogging here will fall to Morgan Holmes, Rusty Burke and me, Bill Cavalier. Bear with us while we work out the kinks and settle in, and we’ll probably be bringing in another blogger or two, with guest appearances from various and sundry REHupans as well. (Like the other Indy says, “I’m making this up as I go!”)

Most likely I’ll be the “news” guy, Morgan is the Pulp Guy, and Rusty will chime in with 30 years worth of experience in Howard Fandom. We’re all opinionated blowhards, of course, because that is a requirement of being a REHupan, so that will creep in, too. (And I promise no derision from me regarding “The Black Stranger”…ah, hell, who am I kidding?…it STILL sucks!)

Ok, let me get started with news about upcoming Howard events. There are several really good ones coming up this year, with major Howard Heads at each one. I’ll be brief for right now, with more info and opinions to follow as the events get closer.

For those of you anxious for news about Robert E. Howard Days in Cross Plains this June 8th & 9th, everything you need to know about the premier Howard Event of the year is forthcoming, and should be up very soon both here and on the Cimmerian site. Fear not, Leo (and Rusty) and Project Pride have another gala event planned for the heartiest of Howard Heads! It is THE place to be for Howard Fans from around the world! I hope to see you there!

The Windy City Pulp Con is happening May 4-6 in the Chicago suburb of Arlington Heights. This year Doug Ellis has put together a celebration of Weird Tales and the 75th Anniversary of Conan. Check it all out at www.windycitypulpandpaper.com.

In July (the 5th through the 8th, to be exact) Dayton , Ohio is hosting the original Pulp Con (36), where Glenn Lord will be the Guest of Honor. All you need to know can be found at www.pulpcon.org.

Plans are in the works for Robert E. Howard Day at the 40th Annual Gen Con Game Fair in Indianapolis this August 18-21. I’m currently working with Leigh Stone regarding this event, and as soon as information is available, I’ll get it to you. As Robert E. Howard was a huge influence on the creation of Dungeons and Dragons, you can bet we’ll have some exciting events scheduled.

Ok, I think that’s enough for now. Once we get used to this blogging business (well, me, anyway) I hope you’ll continue to check out this new and improved REHupa website. Come back early and often, and let us hear from you. We’d like this site to be as Howard Friendly as the Cimmerian site, and hopefully as much fun.

This is Black Indy signing off…

New REHupa site design

Posted by admin on 19th February 2007

Hey Howard fans,

I’m in the process of updating the REHupa website. Specifically, I’m implementing WordPress as the new content management system. This should facilitate a sleeker look and better search options than before, as well as providing an easy way for other REHupans to get involved with the site more and post news, articles, scholarship, etc.

Right now you can still access all of the pages you are used to by clicking on the buttons at the top of your screen. These will direct you back to the various sections of the old site.

If you have links going to this site, you may need to update them from http://www.rehupa.com/index.htm to plain old http://www.rehupa.com. The former will always direct you to the old site, while the latter will direct you to this blog interface.
